Everett W. Olmstead, age 83, of Earlville, passed away Saturday April 18, 2020 at his residence;
due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial services and visitation will be announced at a later date at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home.
Everett was born February 4, 1937 in Ottawa, Illinois, the son of Howard and Dorothy (Eastergord) Olmstead. He married Wilma J. Whipple on May 22, 1960 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mendota. Surviving are his wife Wilma of nearly 60 years; his daughters, LeAnne Meiners of Oglesby, Julie (Robert, Jr.) Hoover of Earlville and Wanda (Jay) Rohl of Ottawa. Everett also leaves grandchildren, Stephanie (Skul) Wassell, Cas Siler, Mason Kember, Austin Kember, Jacob Meiners, Clayton Olmstead and Tyler Rohl; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mavis (Donald) LeBeau of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Everett was a 1955 graduate of Serena High School. He belonged to Marseilles Masonic Lodge #417, a past Worshipful Master of Freedom Lodge #194 AF&AM. A lifelong member of the Harding United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Everett was a farmer, operated Olmstead Trucking and was a bus driver for C.U.D. #2 for many years. He was also an avid collector of John Deere toy tractors. He was deeply devoted to his wife, Wilma and his family.
